How do I stop Royal Mail leaving parcels with Neighbours?
Can I opt-out from having my mail left with a neighbour and/or accepting my neighbours mail.
If you’d prefer not to have any of your items delivered to a neighbour you can opt-out by displaying a sticker at your address..
How Long Will Royal Mail hold an undelivered parcel?
We hold all items for a maximum of 18 calendar days (21 days for Customs items) before returning them to the sender.We need a minimum 2 working days notice to arrange a redelivery. You can collect your item from the address shown on the card, if it is still within the 18-day period.
What happens if Royal Mail damage a parcel?
The sender or the recipient may both claim for a damaged item but only one will be paid compensation. If both claim for the same item then Royal Mail will process only the sender’s claim unless compensation has already been paid to the recipient.

Can Royal Mail signed for be left with a Neighbour?
If you are out when we call, we try and leave your item with a neighbour, instead of taking it back to the local Royal Mail Delivery Office. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances there may be a slight delay in processing your Delivery to Neighbour opt-out application.
What happens if I’m not home when Royal Mail delivery?
If you’re not at home, we’ll attempt to deliver your item* to your neighbour and leave a card. If we can’t deliver to them, we’ll leave a card and take the item back to the Customer Service Point. You can then either collect it or arrange a Redelivery (full details will be on the card).
